Driving through Zimbabwe can be a great adventure when you know what to expect. We let you know border requirements, fuel stops, service points, accomodation, hot tourist spots, great local spots and everything in-between - If we don't know it we will find out for you.
General
Just remember at all borders in Africa, be careful of friendly & patient and you will succeed.
The roads in Zimbabwe are quiet & good, and no problem for small vehicles. Road blocks are normally friendly and professional, wear your seat belts and obey speed limits especially through small towns (fines are usually small.). Zimbabwe is still a very safe destination and especially outside Harare / Bulawayo take normal precautions.

1 - Beitbridge Border
Beitbridge is open 24 hrs. Not as daunting as it is made out to be except on Easter weekend or over the 5th of December period. It is recommnded to come through Botswana & back through Zimbabwe. For Visa information, please refer to Zimbabwe/ Travel Advice.

  • Carbon Tax - 1500/2K cc aprox US$15 - 3000cc+ app US$25
  • Insurance - approx US$20 - US$50
  • Border Bridge fees - approx US$15


    • 2 - Bulawayo
    Bulawayo is a beautiful city and very safe but be careful going to wrong areas. We have two or three reliable places to get fuel & services.

    3 - Hwange National Park
     Still one of the best National parks in the world & should not be missed

  • Entrance pp - 7days - approx US$20
  • Chalets - approx US$30-$80
  • Camping - approx US$10 pp


    • 4 - Binga / Kariba
    This beautiful place on Lake Kariba is half forgotten but remains a lovely place to spend a few days, enjoy a natural hot water spring & some fishing.

    5 - Victoria Falls
    Victoria Falls feels like the center of the universe, it can be your turning point on a new route to Botswana, Namibia or Zambia. We have fantastic camping sites and if you talk to us before hand, you will be surprised how much value you get for your money in Victoria Falls.
